FAQs
Why are we splitting into divisions?
This split is a result of player feedback and is intended to create a better hockey experience for everyone.
How many teams will be in each division?
We will continue to have 10 teams in total but that really depends on how registration goes. In any case, we will have an even number of teams in each division.
What is the registration deadline?
Registration opens Saturday August 9th and shifts to a waiting list once all spots are filled.
Are there limited spots? If so, how are they being assigned?
Yes spots can be limited as most players return from year to year but those veteran players have a deadline to register (Monday August 11th). Any spots available after the returning player deadline will be distributed in the following order:
- Returning players from injury or maternity leave
- Players with prior OSHL experience
- New players
How can I make sure I picked the right division? Can I request a division change?
After registration closes, the league will share a complete list of registered players and their preferred divisions. Change requests will be accepted for 24 hours after the player list is published. All requests will be carefully considered, accepted or denied to achieve league/divisional balance.
I’m over 40, do I have to play in the Masters division?
No, you can play in the division of your choice.
I’m not quite 40 and would prefer to play in the Masters division, is that possible?
If you’re an original player, yes absolutely. All other change requests will be considered when there is availability in the division.
Why the 24-hour window?
To give the league time to prepare and facilitate two OSHL Drafts before the season begins.
Can the league make roster adjustments?
Yes. The league reserves the right to make changes to ensure balanced teams and divisions.
Can I play in both divisions?
In the future, yes absolutely but for now the focus is making sure everyone has a place to play.
